We develop and deliver integrated bridge systems for warships, integrated dived navigation systems for submarines, and C2 systems for small craft. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to support the development of navigation products that are operationally effective, offer market leading performance and reliability, minimize production costs and are maintainable over an extended lifecycle.  Our Electrical Engineers are responsible for the design, selection, evaluation, integration and documentation of electrical/electronic components to meet the customer’s requirements and specifications. 

Responsibilities
 
  • Performs studies, experiments, research and tests in contributing to the design and development of navigation system products to established codes, standards, drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
  • Contributes to the design of systems based on COTS products and customized solutions which includes the recommendation of parts and components
  • Updates and maintains the Company’s parts database
  • Reviews hardware requirements ensuring the proposed solution meets the stated requirements
  • Creates electrical schematics, block diagram, cable lists and drawings to prescribed standards
  • Ensures designs are optimized for adherence to EMI/EMC standards
  • Prepares simple written plans, calculations, designs, specifications and material lists
  • Assists more senior engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy of calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed methods
  • Provides design information and guidance to support personnel, and occasionally to suppliers, in preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication
  • Ensures that the resulting design meets system, customer and budgetary requirements and is compliant to industry and government standards
  • Clearly communicates technical and design documentation to the Production department for manufacturability
  • Executes engineering change request (ECRs) as well as providing supporting justification data


Skills and Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics and/or relevant work experience
Experience:  2-4 years of experience
Experience with the following is desirable: 
  • Design to minimize electromagnetic electrical interference (EMI)
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with computer hardware, networking hardware and electronics
  • Design and selection of harness, cables and connectors
  • Experience in designing electrical products for manufacture
  • Working knowledge of EMI, EMC effects
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog electrical circuits
  • Development of test procedures
  • Design for harsh climatic environments, corrosive, and marine environments
  • Familiarity with product certification testing to civilian and military standards
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve hardware problems
  • Working knowledge with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with naval platform environment
  • Familiarity with Computers, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, peripheral equipment, test, diagnostic and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with marine electronic and electrical systems
Skills:  
  • Conscientious team player who pays attention to detail and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, able to handle multiple projects and prioritize workload
Other:
  • Must be eligible for security clearance
  • Occasional travel may be required
