OSI Maritime Systems is a Vancouver based solutions provider of advanced integrated navigation and tactical solutions to military customers for over 20 years.  As a pioneer of Warship Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (WECDIS), the company has grown to be a leading provider of integrated navigation and tactical solutions designed for naval and maritime security operations. We develop and deliver integrated bridge systems for warships, integrated dived navigation systems for submarines, and C2 systems for small craft. OSI currently has 20 naval customers from around the world with over 600 warships and submarines operating with its world leading integrated navigation and tactical solutions.

Our offices are conveniently located in Burnaby near Willingdon and Hwy 1, close to transit, bike routes and running trails.  We have free parking, secure bike lock up and showers.

We are looking for a Production Manager/ Factory Manager to be responsible for the production and delivery of OSI's products to military and marine navigation customers.  These products include custom built and off-the-shelf components integrated into enclosures that meet International Marine Organization (IMO) and military standards demanded by our customers.  

  • Develops and manages production schedules taking into account customer commitments, equipment, material supply and staff efficiency to ensure timely and cost effective utilisation of resources
  • Develops and manages operating plans, procedures, equipment maintenance and training programs to ensure the efficiency and consistency of the production and warehouse operations
  • Plans and ensures optimum use of resources; administers and monitors use against budget and provides regular progress reporting in support of project activities
  • Maintains production, inventory control, warehousing and shipping operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing project, operational, security and personnel policies and procedures;
  • Plan, oversee and supervise all activities related to inventory control within a warehouse environment;
  • Ensure that all materials are properly stored and that accurate and appropriate levels of inventory are maintained in order to meet project and support demands
  • In conjunction with project managers, maintain close contact with customers
  • Implement quality control and tracking programs to meet quality objectives, and analyze production and quality control to detect and correct problems
  • Identification and implementation of improvements to the production process and activities
  • Support proposal and project activities by estimating production costs, establishing production budgets and ensuring management of production activities within allocated budgets
  • Ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including project management, engineering and supply chain;
  • Facilitates and ensures individual and team roles and responsibilities are understood; performance measurement objectives are identified, measured and monitored on an on-going basis in order to provide positive feedback on accomplishments and to ensure immediate action is taken to address shortfalls
  • Provides safety, quality and production leadership for production and warehouse staff, setting standards and ensures awareness of and compliance to company policies and all applicable employment, environmental, health and safety legislation

Skills and Qualifications
: University degree or Technology Institute diploma and/or relevant experience.
Experience: 6 to 8 years of experience in the technology industry with knowledge in the supply of system solutions to military customers. Experience as a Factory Manager (or similar) would be an asset.
Skills:  Proven ability to analyze and solve hardware and software problems; conscientious team player who pays attention to detail and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills; organized; ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize; ability to learn quickly in a high paced, challenging environment.
Knowledge: Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; bench-marking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies.
