You have proven success as a Director of Programs leading and driving revenue positive projects, you're an expert at successfully recognizing earned value across portfolios, with expert-level experience implementing, managing, supervising and evaluating of all the organization’s projects.   Charged with leading the Project Management Organization (PMO), you're a leader with proven success of delivering on target and cash positive solutions across a broad portfolio of related projects.   Leading change, exhibiting Project Management excellence, dealing with uncertainty and shifting priorities you ensure project performance through the leadership of a full project governance cycle.   In addition, your experience managing, mentoring, tutoring and leadership are synonymous with your success.   You are an accomplished professional when it comes time to present PMO performance to senior leaders.  

The Job:
  • Conduct planning for the PMO team to ensure that the necessary resources[1] are available to allocate to projects in accordance with the company’s overall business plan.
  • Ensure the team members have the required training, skills, tools, standards, processes and knowledge required for them to make delivery as part of their assigned project team.
  • Initiate and sustain process improvement initiatives to ensure best practices are applied to Systems Engineering.
  • Engage with industry to maintain awareness of best practice.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Manager to develop quality control procedures.
  • Drive, through Continuous Improvement, greater efficiency in the execution of activities.
  • Ensure that Company ISO 9001 and CMMI procedures and policies are maintained.
  • Ensure optimal workforce planning within the PMO team.
  • Support the VP, Product Development in the development of detailed product road maps.
  • Follow workplace operating, environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Mentor and collaborate with PMO team members to ensure ongoing professional development and skill advancement.
  • Accountable for the effective onboarding of all PMO team members.
  • As the department manager, the Director, Programs provides leadership to the PMO by means of management of the project portfolio; guidance and intervention on any number of project issues requiring resolution.
  • Chairmanship of the Project Governance Cycle, through which the status of projects are reported.
  • Management of the preparation and presentation of project data at the monthly Financial Review, Operations Review and Executive Review.
  • Senior point of interface between the Customer and the Company to ensure the projects are delivered to performance, cost and time constraints whilst ensuring the quality of deliverables meets the needs of the Project and to the quality expected by the Customer.
  • Principle data owner of enterprise wide Project scheduling and resource management database.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for the provision of inputs to the bid team at the proposal stage on project schedule, risk, milestone payment plans, cash flow and project terms and conditions.
You Bring:
  •  Preference will be given to those with significant Naval and/or Maritime Engineering experience.
  •  Requires a degree in Science, Engineering or a related discipline.  
  •  A minimum of 15 years’ experience in a Project Manager role involving projects with a value in excess of $25m. Of which at least 10 years should have been gained in a Maritime Engineering organization and at least 5 years should be in a Program Management role.     
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with:  
  • Managing a diverse team of professionals.  
  • Resource planning and forecasting needs.  
  • Development and maintenance of ISO processes and procedures. 
  • Primavera P6 or other enterprise wide central Project Management tools.
  • Full Project Governance lifecycles.  
  • Project scheduling tools and MS Office software 
  • Product Lifecycle Management Tools. 
  • Demonstrated ability to: 
  • Learn quickly and work well under pressure in a high paced, challenging environment.        Contribute to, and effectively operate in a management team.
  • Be organized, and detail focused.        
  • Communicate effectively through excellent oral and written communication skills.
  •   *Must be eligible to obtain and maintain NATO secret security clearance throughout the employment period.
