Who You Are:

An experienced Electrical Engineer with a passion for learning (bonus points if you have Maritime or Naval experience!). You will be responsible for the design, selection, evaluation, integration and documentation of electrical / electronic / electromechanical (EEE) components to meet our design requirements. Plus you will be working on a team of Mechanical and Hardware Engineers all working to build our Integrated Tactical Bridge Systems that are installed on Navies all around the world!

The Job:
  • Performs studies, experiments, research and tests that contribute to the design and development of navigation system products. Establishes codes, standards, drawings, specifications and requirements for both commercial and military customers.
  • Contributes to the design of systems based on design for manufacturability principles including ease of manufacture, standardization, design for maintenance, minimization of parts, and equipment commonality, etc.
  • Updates and maintains the parts database utilizing the company’s Product Lifecycle Management software tool.
  • Actively participates in preliminary, functional, critical detail and production design reviews and takes responsibility for ensuring production readiness.
  • Creates electrical schematics, block diagrams, cable lists, cable routings and other relevant manufacturing information documents in accordance with the company’s design standards.
  • Ensures designs are optimized for adherence to EMI/EMC, Human Factors, Safety and other relevant industry and/or classification society standards.
  • Assists more senior engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy of calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed methods.
  • Provides detailed design purchase specifications and guidance to support personnel.
  • Initiates and executes design reviews to ensure that the resulting design meets system, customer and budgetary requirements and is compliant to industry and government standards.
  • Clearly communicates technical and design documentation to other stakeholder functions.
  • Initiates, when required, and executes engineering change request (ECRs) as well as provides supporting justification data in a time sensitive manner.
  • Specifies and executes design verification testing, including monitoring of technical performance indicators or design budgets.
  • Follows workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines

You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience
  • 2-6 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, networking hardware and electronics
  • Design and selection of harness, cables and connectors
  • Experience in designing electrical products for manufacture
  • Working knowledge of EMI, EMC effects
  • Working knowledge of digital and analog electrical circuits
  • Development of test procedures
  • Design for harsh climatic environments, corrosive, and marine environments
  • Familiarity with product certification testing to civilian and military standards
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Working knowledge with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is preferred
  • Familiarity with naval platform environment
  • Familiarity with Computers, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, peripheral equipment, test, diagnostic and measuring equipment.
  • Experience with marine electronic and electrical systems
  • Conscientious team player who pays attention to detail and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Organized, able to handle multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Must be eligible for security clearance*
  • Occasional travel may be required
