OSI is a project led matrix organization; department managers work together to solve complex problems.  Working alongside Systems Engineering, Software Engineering and Production/Supply Chain Departments the Hardware Engineering Department holds design responsibility for the electro/mechanical elements of our Integrated Bridge Systems.

The job: 
  • Lead the Hardware Engineering Department.
  • Allocate your department’s resources to work on integrated project teams.  Forecast and manage resource demands based on business objectives and plans.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement throughout the department; support and drive CMMI changes.
  • Be an active member of the Systems Delivery Management Team, share thoughts, ideas and plans with team colleagues and set in place plans to meet company objectives.
  • Be an agent for change, identify, plan and resource initiatives to support growth, greater customer satisfaction and improved productivity.
  • Mentor, guide and develop engineers and technologists within your department.  Approve professional development and training plans.  Monitor and act on the effectiveness of training provided.
  • Create and maintain standards in design (electrical, mechanical ad CAD) and quality

What you bring: 
  • A bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a relevant Engineering field (Marine or Defence industry a distinct advantage)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a leadership position; Experience with the allocation of a team of resources
  • Knowledge of CAD tools is an asset; Experience working in an ISO 9001 compliant engineering environment is an asset
  • Familiar with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, experienced with Product Lifecycle Management Tools, design for manufacture, plan for obsolescence and testing;
  • Design knowledge related to EMI, EMC, ESD, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, etc.; familiar with relevant codes and standards (e.g. IEC, etc.); knowledge of MS Office software;
  • Proven ability to analyze and solve hardware and system problems;
  • Conscientious team player who pays attention to detail and possesses excellent oral and written communication skills organized; able to handle multiple projects and prioritize; ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure in a high paced, challenging environment; strong teamwork skills
  • Demonstrated working experience in Design for Manufacturability
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
